Mommy & Me in the Mountains: A Serene Utah Session


As a Dallas-Fort Worth-based photographer, most of my sessions unfold under the wide Texas sky—but this particular “Mommy and Me” session took me to the breathtaking mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah, and it was nothing short of magical.

Nestled just north of Salt Lake City in the quiet beauty of Plain City, this area is a hidden gem for outdoor family photography. With its open fields, expansive mountain views, and that crisp high-desert air, it felt like stepping into a dream. We timed the session perfectly for golden hour, when the sun bathed the Utah landscape in soft, golden light, wrapping everything in a cozy, cinematic glow.

Mom and her little one—laughing, and full of that deep, effortless bond only a mother and child share—moved together in the most natural rhythm. There’s something timeless about a mother holding her child in the wide open space of the Wasatch Mountains. No props, no distractions—just pure love and warm Utah light.

The mountain backdrop near Salt Lake City gave each frame a feeling of peaceful strength. The tall grass swayed in the breeze, adding movement and softness to every image. Whether they were walking hand in hand, sharing a snuggle, or twirling in the field, every moment radiated connection—and that’s exactly what I love to capture most.


This session was a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do: to preserve the fleeting stages of motherhood before they slip away. Whether in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth or the wild, scenic beauty surrounding Salt Lake City, my goal is always the same—telling love stories through natural, heartfelt photography.
